Focal Point for Africa

Africa's Focal Point is currently located in South Africa. GenderCC has started a new pilot project on Gender and Climate Change in South Africa "Raising Awareness, Building Capacity, and Influencing Policy".

Focal Point for Asia

Gender CC's Asian Focal Point focuses on issues regarding gender-sensitive adaptation to climate change. The contact person, Sharmind Neelormi, is an Associate Professor at Jahangirnagar University, in Savar, Bangladesh. Moreoever, she is coordinating the Women's Group of Bangladesh’s civil society organizations network ‘Campaign for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods’ (CSRL), which links almost 200 national and community based organizations.

Focal Point for Latin America

The South American Focal Point largely deals with issues relating to gender and deforestation. Contact person of the Focal Point is Ana Filipini, an activist from Uruguay and member of the International Secretariat of the World Rainforest Movement

Focal Point for North America

Felicia Davis is currently the coordinator of GenderCC's North American Focal Point, with a special focus on helping diverse populations transition to a green and sustainable economy.

Focal Point for the Pacific

The main focus of GenderCC's Focal Point in the Pacific Region is capacity-building and empowerment of women concerning climate change issues through the media and thereby encouraging them to participate in decision-making processes. Moreover, Koin Etuati, who is currently leading the Focal Point, aims at improving livelihoods and standard of living of women through mitigation of climate change/energy, and at mainstreaming gender into adaptation to climate change (disaster risk reduction).

Focal Point for Indigenous People

GenderCC's Focal Point for Indigenous People is led by Anastasia Pinto (India), who is currently working on adaptability issues and preparedness of human rights aspects of climate change with small education efforts in her home state in Goa.
