Fit for Gender Mainstreaming: Toolbox


This GENDER TOOLBOX contains exercises and materials that were used in the context of the European project 'Fit for Gender Mainstreaming – gender-sensitive transcending of borders between East and West', a cooperation project including four countries, by Heinrich Boell Foundation- Gunda Werner Institute, Grüne Bildungswerkstatt Austria, Network of East-West Woman-Poland (NEWW Polska), Gender Studies o.p.s. in the Czech Republic.

The toolbox consists of four sections:

The exercises are divided into exercises on raising awareness for gender issues, gender dialogue, gender at work and/or in specialised areas and on defining the right position of gender-political strategies.

The counselling section contains information on the approach of gender counselling, exercises to specify an assignment and to develop counselling concepts as well as a counselling example from local government.

The checklist section comprises all checklists and guidelines that were used during the project,

while the materials section contains information on gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting.

The toolbox is available in English, Polish, Czech and German.

Gender & Energy in Sustainable Development Toolkit and Resource Guide


ENERGIA has designed training packages for the training of selected practioners (policy makers, planners and project implementers, NGOs, private sector and academia) to increase their understanding of gender and energy inter-relationships and their capacity to bring gender aspects of energy into the policy and project planning. The training modules have been developed on the following topics:

  • Gender and Energy Policy - the rationale and tools for developing and implementing gender aware policies
  • Gender and Advocacy - tools, techniques and the rationale for policy advocacy
  • Project Proposal Development - tools to plan and produce competitive energy and gender proposals

The training modules - entitled "The Gender Face of Energy" - are available to download a the Energia-Africa-website. Module 2 is focussing on gender tools.

Gender and Disaster Sourcebook: Training and Education


The Gender and Disaster Sourcebook is a one-stop user-friendly electronic guide to help answer questions like: What is the link between gender equality and disaster risk? What lessons have been learned in the field and through scientific study? How can this knowledge be applied in practice to reduce risk and respond equitably to disaster events?

It is the outcome of a year-long project to consolidate and organize English-language materials in the field, the Sourcebook is a work in progress and asking for your contribution.

Chapter 6 of the sourcebook is addressing training and education, providing training material and collge classes.
