On the margins of the One Planet Summit, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs organized a high-level meeting on gender and climate finance on December 11th. On this occasion, French civil society representatives handed over a set of recommendations entitled "Making Climate Finance Work for Women" to the French Climate Ambassador Brigitte Collet. The recommendations have been endorsed by close to 50 civil society organizations from Europe, North America, Asia and South America.
The statement calls for a significant increase of public finance, in particular for climate adaptation, and for climate funds to ensure that gender equality and women's empowerment are anchored in their institutions and practices as cross-cutting guiding principles.
