Facing incessant droughts due to climate change, many women in southern Africa are adopting alternate practices like goat herding to sustain their families. This article highlights the multi-faceted impacts of climate change in Harare, Zimbabwe. The author talks to a 44-year old mother of four, Silvia Hungwe, whose husband migrated 10 years earlier due to crop failure each season. The article hightlights how women in Harare have adapted to the unfavourable climate by herding goats. Goats are quite resilient and are resistant to drought. This article highlights climate-induced male out-migration and the rise of female-headed households.
