Gender-Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction Management Can Save Lives

The third week of May the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction took place in Cancún, México. Although, it is widely known that women are more vulnerable during extreme disaster events and this item has been included to the working programme of the platform, still a greater number of deaths of women and girls during disaster situations are reported. Therefore, the revision of gender policies and practices within disaster risk reduction measures formed one part of this years platform meeting.
