SDG focuses on "Girls’ Rights Are Human Rights: Positioning Girls at the Heart of the International Agenda"

The SDG says that the  girls' rights are the human rights. By bringing girls at the centre of the international agenda it takes a step ahead than their predecessors, the Millennium Development Goals(MDG), which mentioned girls only in the context of education.


It urges the international community to adress girls' double burden of gender and age-based-discrimination and show commitment to the realisation of girls'right; take measures to bridge the gap between women’s and children’s rights; ensure that norms and frameworks for producing future international policy and agreements better reflect the challenges that girls face; and urge States to comply with international standards that advance girls’ rights.
